Ballet Hispanico are proud to reveal their latest work, ‘Doña Perón’, a portrayal of one of the most iconic and controversial women in Argentinian history, Eva "Evita" Perón. The company, Ballet Hispanico, has been a breathing, living organisation that has become one of America’s cultural treasures and one of the top Latinx dance companies, giving opportunity to and encouraging Latin dancers. Ballet Hispanico celebrates over fifty years of existence and ‘Doña Perón’ is a seminal work for them. Prepare for the explosive, beautiful, layered account of Evita’s life, with Annabelle Lopez Ochoa conveying the narrative of Evita’s controversial life with her first evening-length work for the company. Full of shade, light, scepticism, activism and glamour, Evita’s life was a real journey as she rose from being the illegitimate daughter of a prosperous farmer to Argentine’s First Lady. Her passion for advocating women and the working class clashed with her indulgence in the opulent lifestyle of those with money and power, and her early death at 33 years old, made for historical events that shook Argentina. ‘Doña Perón’ is the company's latest show and will be one of their greatest, so be at the Orpheum Theater on the 4th of February 2023 with Ballet Hispanico.
