Birthed in 2005, the American Midwestern Ballet Company was created with the intention of establishing professional ballet in the Midwest through various mediums not only limited to performances and shows but also education and engagement of the local community. Over the years the company has succeeded in attaining that goal and today, to the delight of the founder Erika Overturff, has graduated into a well respected professional ballet company with shows stretching all the way to cities such as Chicago and Kansas City while also bringing repute to the Midwest as a ballet region.
The AMB has not just successfully bridged the cultural gap in the Midwest as far as ballet is concerned but has presented over 50amazing productions over the years. Their most famed including: The Nutcracker, Cinderella, The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland to name a few.
Perhaps what makes their productions stand out is the wizardry of choreographer and founder Erica's clever and well thought out combinations of various ballet styles which aren't just limited to the classical norms but encompass more modern contemporary forms while staying true to the art.
Again thanks to the AMB's collaborations with a variety of talented operas and symphonies, viewers are guaranteed a full spectacle that truly showcases this beautiful art and dance in a breathtaking 2 hour Odyssey.
Speaking of collaborations the AMB has had a longstanding relationship with the Orpheum Theater which began in 2005. This historic theater which serves as a historic landmark and a timeless architectural feat has featured iconic acts and shows such as Les Misérables, Jerry Seinfeld, the world premiere of the musical "Prairie Fire" and a concert by the renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
This venue is the ideal location for Alice and with its reputation for acoustic excellence guarantees to provide viewers with an amazing and comfortable experience which will take them right into Lewis Carroll's world of madness.
