Hamilton at Orpheum Theatre

Making its first appearance in in 2015 and performing for almost a decade, Hamilton shook Broadway by storm bringing a revolutionary approach. Based on Ron Chernow’s biography about Alexander Hamilton, it tells the life story of Alexander Hamilton’s early years and journey to power as one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. A unique story that is both founded in truth and clever, Hamilton is still to this day hailed as revolutionary in its storytelling and has left its mark on politics, culture, and education.

It was created by American composer and writer Lin-Manuel Miranda who is also known for his achievements in both Broadway and film. He went on to create the music and lyrics for previous Broadway play In the Heights, another Tony award-winning showcase. Miranda is also responsible for the music and lyrics in popular musical films such as Moana. This hit musical, featuring a ethinically diverse cast, is set to a score that combines new genres like hip hop, jazz, R&B and more, which has made Hamilton all the more revolutionary and engaging by bringing these genres to the Broadway stage. Songs such as “Satisfied”, “Wait For It”, and “You’ll Be Back”, have become loved by many as top-rated memorable songs from the production since its Broadway debut. Lin-Manuel Miranda has attributed his music inspiration for Hamilton came from top rap and hip-hop rappers of USA, finding a way to marry the two different genres together, something that was unheard of. The score of Hamilton is praised hugely by Nebraska critics alike, compared to the other Broadway musicals produced today, Hamilton proves to be more fast-paced and engaging than others.

Hamilton has since gone on to achieve a record-breaking 11 Tony Awards plus 16 Tony nominations, Olivier Awards, Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, and even a special citation from the Kennedy Center Honors. To date, Hamilton has achieved global acclaim as it continues its global tour, including the continents of Europe and Asia.

Hamilton is now available this spring in Orpheum Theatre, the premier theater for the arts in Omaha, where previous shows have proved to be successful. Tickets for the Thursday 8th May 2025 show are numerous as Hamilton will only be running for a short time in Orpheum Theatre during May.
