World Ballet Company: Swan Lake at Orpheum Theatre

The Los Angeles-based touring ballet production company, World Ballet Company, celebrates global talent and the age-defying appeal of ballet this summer with 50 accomplished and renowned professional dancers from 10 different countries and the fresh reimagining of classical ballet traditions. With its touring history of over 280 cities, performing to over 250,000 patrons, and countless sold-out performances, this is the one union of music and dance you cannot afford to miss.

Fashioned from Russian and German folk tales, Swan Lake tells the story of Odette, a princess turned into a swan by an evil sorcerer's curse. Prince Siegfried, urged by his mother to marry soon and make his choice at the upcoming royal ball, heads out to the forest, where he witnesses a swan transforming into the beautiful Odette. For the curse to be broken, someone who has never loved before, must love her. However, the sorcerer has his eye on the Kingdom and sees an opportunity to trick Prince Siegfried with a secret weapon that looks remarkably like the innocent Odette.

Set to breathtaking music by the iconic composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, original choreography by Julius Reisinger, and revised by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov, Swan Lake has been performed globally for 147 years. Although Swan Lake is presented in many different versions globally, the World Ballet Company built its design on the revised version, with the choreography lovingly retouched by the critically acclaimed choreographer Nadezhda Kalinina.

The stellar cast comprises exceptional, multinational dancers handpicked from premier ballet institutions from Japan, Europe, the United Kingdom, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan, among others. The amazingly talented principal dancer Andrea Lassakova will take the stage as Odette and Odile, supported by the incredible corps de balllet, including Angelina Zgurskaya, Maxim Vlas, Kyunsoon Park, and Constantine Geronik.

The iconic Orpheum Theatre is synonymous with some of the most outstanding global performances. The magnificent proscenium theatre, built in the French Renaissance style, offers seating for 2,600 patrons on five floors: the Orchestral floor, the Grand Tier, the Balcony, the Gallery, and, of course, the special Boxes.
