Orpheus grieving for the loss of his love, Eurydice, begins to lose his penchant for music but soon embarks on a journey to the underworld in hopes to bring her back. But upon arriving, he finds out that Eurydice signed a contract to stay in the underworld for all eternity. Will this love story of Orpheus and Eurydice prevail? “Utterly fabulous. Rachel Chavkin is fearlessly innovative” – Hollywood Reporter

Rest assured, audiences for this upcoming tour are in for an excellent showdown. Just ask the countless influential reviewers and authorities in all things Broadway. The Guardian praised this musical for fusing plenty of breathtaking elements – a stirring mythical love story, “Anaìˆs Mitchell’s musical melds two classical myths, folk and jazz with tremendous soul and offbeat spirit.” Writer Arifa Akbar continued to give praise to this trailblazing musical, “Every scene becomes a set piece: big, beautiful and emotionally blasting. It is ultimately not about good over evil, tragedy vs happy endings or the artist vs the work machine of the underworld, but the value of telling stories, in spite of knowing their ending.”

Meanwhile, New York Times’ resident critic Jesse Green wrote, “Sumptuous. Gorgeous. As good as it gets. You wish you could live in the glowy moment forever.” Over at Hollywood Reporter, the review praised Chavkin’s amazing creativity, “Utterly fabulous. Rachel Chavkin is fearlessly innovative. Her wildly inventive production arrives on Broadway with a furnace-like blast of creativity.”
